Global Leadership In Alcohol Responsibility

As a major international brewer with a firm commitment to alcohol responsibility, Molson Coors plays an active role in national and international bodies concerned with alcohol policy.

Our company is a founding member of the International Center for Alcohol Policies, or ICAP, a not-for-profit think tank involving governments, the alcohol industry and public interests. ICAP’s mission is to promote understanding of the role of alcohol in society and help reduce the abuse of alcohol worldwide.

ICAP promotes responsibility, partnerships and an evidence-based approach to alcohol policy issues. The organization serves as a conduit for identifying areas of common ground and for bringing together relevant partners who share common goals around reducing alcohol abuse and developing balanced approaches to policy.

ICAP

In 2006, ICAP published Drinking in Context: Patterns, Interventions, and Partnerships. The book lays out a pragmatic approach to alcohol policy development that relies on drinking patterns, the need for targeted interventions for the reduction of harm, and partnerships among all those with a role to play. It was co-sponsored by ICAP, the International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA), World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), and the Institut de Recherches Scientifiquessur les Boissons (IREB).

Molson Coors helped found the Global Alcohol Producers Group, or GAP-G, established to engage in consultations with the World Health Organization and its member governments regarding a global alcohol strategy. Molson Coors and the other fifteen GAP-G members have promoted effective and feasible policies to reduce harmful drinking, recognizing the many cultural and institutional differences in drinking around the world. GAP-G companies actively participate in multi-sector dialogues and partnerships towards this end.

Molson Coors also actively participates in the Global Brewers Forum, an opportunity for leading global brewers to discuss effective alcohol policies and share best practices in self-regulation around the world and supports initiatives by its divisions in their home markets.
