Franciscan Well Brewery

Franciscan Well Brewery

Opened in 1998, find us at Cork, Ireland

Our Story

The Franciscan Well brewery and brewpub was founded in 1998 by Shane Long at the North Mall in Cork City and is built on the site of an old Franciscan monastery and well dating back to 1219. Brewing production moved to a new premises in 2015 when the Franciscan Well Docklands brewery was opened.

Fun Facts:

  • The original 13th century Franciscan well itself is still flowing today alongside some of the remaining monastery walls, and the brewpub is still based on that site.
  • The building that houses our newer Docklands Brewery was originally the first factory built outside the USA by Henry Ford to produce Ford vehicles, and dates from around 1918.
