Our Story
Molson Coors’ Tadcaster Tower Brewery was built in 1882 by brewers Hotham and Co. Of York. The original tower was 100 feet high, and it was the first the brewery in Tadcaster to have its own railway sidings, allowing for easier transportation of ingredients and beer.
Fun Facts:
- When the brewery was built in 1882 it was nicknamed locally as “Snob’s Brewery”. The name arose because the newly built brewery was owned by a group of young honourables; the sons of baronets who resided in York.
- The site is currently undergoing an £10m investment plan to increase production capacity and efficiency and reduce emissions, including a CO2 recovery system that captures and reuses CO2 which would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
